6 in maths and chem okay for dentistry?

I've been slightly worried the past couple weeks over my GCSE's. I got a 6 in maths and chem and an 8 in bio. Will the 6 in maths really affect my application? I'm currently taking Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology as A-Levels as my school requires a 7 in maths to do it at A-level. If I get multiple A stars, will the GCSE's still hurt my application to the top dent schools? thanks

I am going to be straightforward with you. Your GCSEs are not great for an application to dentistry. If you have good predicted grades in your A Levels, some medical schools may overlook your GCSEs. You should probably therefore try to aim at schools that don't strongly weight GCSEs, and that are less competitive.

That's assuming you do well in your A levels. With a 6 in Chemistry, you are not in a great position to start A level chemistry and do well in it. If you think you can, you have to work very hard to catch up with what you didn't get at GCSE and keep up with the content at A level. This will be no easy feat.
