Career Support Service at University of Bath

Since I joined the University of Bath as a postgraduate student, the Career Support Services have been an essential part of my journey, and I’m still benefiting from their guidance as I navigate my PhD applications. Right from the beginning, I was paired with a dedicated careers advisor who continues to guide me at different stages of my career preparation. We regularly meet to refine my application strategy, whether it's tailoring my CV, drafting personal statements, or identifying strengths that will help me stand out as a PhD candidate. This personalized support has been instrumental in boosting my confidence for interviews and academic submissions.
The career workshops continue to be a huge asset as I prepare for academic life. Sessions on interview techniques and networking in academia have been particularly useful as I begin to communicate with potential PhD supervisors and faculty members. These workshops are still helping me fine-tune essential skills needed for a research career, making me feel more confident about taking the next step in academia.
As an international student, I’m also receiving ongoing support around the complexities of UK visas and job search strategies beyond the UK. The careers team has been excellent in offering webinars and one-on-one guidance on the Skilled Worker visa and Graduate Visa, both of which are critical as I map out my future.
I'm still tapping into Bath’s SETsquared program, as entrepreneurship is a pathway I'm considering alongside academia. The resources they provide are perfect for students exploring innovative ventures, offering a supportive environment for business ideas.
The best part is knowing that the Career Services will continue to support me even after graduation, helping me stay confident and prepared for all the challenges ahead in my academic and professional journey!
