Early Applicant Response Time

Hey, I’m an early applicant and wanted to have some clarity as to when we get responses. I’m not med/dent etc, so aside from my Cambridge application I’m not applying to courses who are likely to face lots of applications. For clarification, I’m applying to LSE, UCL, St Andrews and Bristol - how long in terms of weeks does it usually, but also are you guys thinking it will take? #EarlyApplicant #OxbridgeApplicant #LSEApplicant #Management #Economics

It could be any time from a few days to next April - there is no way to predict this as its different for different Unis/courses and top Unis make offers very gradually.

Remember - this isnt a race, and it isn't 'first one to get an offer is the winner'.
And you will drive yourself nuts if you constantly check your phone/email every minute for the next 6 months.

I think you may be underestimating the popularity of economics and management courses (assuming that’s what you’ve applied for) - particularly at your chosen universities. I can’t speak for St Andrews, but LSE and UCL, like Cambridge, are highly competitive universities for economics courses. As well as this, they are both heavily oversubscribed London universities targeted by tens of thousands of home and international students every year. For LSE in particular, economics is at the very heart of the university, so I wouldn’t count on getting a response back quickly. As for Bristol, I’m not sure whether or not it has a particularly outstanding reputation for economics, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were also quite competitive (just not on the same level). Bristol have a tendency to put applications on hold and make decisions after the January deadline, so again, you may be waiting a while. As for Cambridge, their timeline for the application process can be found on the website and applies to all courses (with perhaps a few exceptions).

I think I misled with my hashtags, I am applying for management at the mentioned uni’s just wanted to drive engagement. Despite still being intensively competitive, I beehive that a lot of people applying for management aren’t applying to Oxbridge as they don’t offer a dedicated management course. Really appreciate the insight though

Yeah it’s just playing on my mind I guess, I’ve seen people receive offers within a week but also know people who had to wait for that long - I guess we will see, really appreciate the insight
