I received an offer of AAA from Nottingham for law (M100) with predicted grades of A*A*A and 876554 at GCSE (with severe extenuating circumstances). Nottingham are quite good with sending out offers early, so I don’t think you’ll be waiting too long. I’ve seen other courses at Warwick giving out offers, but since law is particularly competitive there, I wouldn’t count on hearing anything back for a while. You’d be lucky if you hear back before the January ECD in all honesty.

It’s actually my fifth choice so I doubt I’ll end up going there. I also applied to Cambridge, Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham. I received an offer for Birmingham on the same day as Nottingham.

I haven’t visited the campus in person, but from what I can tell, it seems a lot more aesthetically pleasing to me than Nottingham’s. I really like the course there and I have lots of family who have a) studied at UOB and/or the law school or b) live in and around Birmingham. I think the city is a bit more lively and I prefer the student areas in Birmingham (Edgbaston, Selly Oak etc.) to the ones in Nottingham (e.g. Lenton, Beeston). With Nottingham, the campus felt very far out from the city with not as much to do in the student areas in comparison. The city is a bit too reminiscent of home for me (a more rural part of London), which has made me concerned with things like getting bored. The university itself is not the issue - I actually really loved it - it’s everything around the university that makes me hesitant. With Birmingham, my only real concern is the safety, but from what I’ve heard, the student areas and city seem to be no more dangerous than some parts of London I go through regularly. I also prefer the societies at Birmingham more. The course is really the main thing that’s sold me though.

Fair enough mate, I was also considering both but the magic circle seems to target Nottingham more than Birmingham, but of course there will be other factors so the difference is probably very marginal

As much as I hate to admit it, the prestige Nottingham has when it comes to the bar was a big factor. Rankings and reputation unfortunately were a big consideration for me because I want to be a barrister. I also loved the campus, the general atmosphere of the law faculty, the law societies and the the structure of the course. I also dislike London very much, so I didn’t want to put too many London unis down. My other choices are Cambridge, UCL, Durham and Exeter. Why’d you put down Notts?

Very similar reasoning to why you picked Nottingham. The employability prospects seem to be very good. I have read aside from oxbridge and the London unis they are on par or exceed most other Russell groups when it comes to law graduate salaries. Also the city’s nice and lots of things for students to do.
