Subject requirements?

Hi,
Would it be risky to apply to a course where i don’t meet one of the subject requirements. It’s for psychology, and i have a science subject at a level and another a level so i meet those requirements. But i dont meet the BTEC subject requirements. What’s your thoughts? Should i apply anyway? I’m predicted higher (AAD*) than what they’re asking (BBD*)

What's the difference in the BTEC subjects? If they're asking for Applied Science and you've got Children's Play, Learning and Development (or a similar difference) then yes, that's going to be an issue for them.

Hi thanks for your comment. They want Btec in applied science, applied human biology or applied psychology. I’m doing health and social care, but like i said i do have psychology a level which meets their one science a level requirement?

If you have 'mixed' qualifications then its always worth emailing that Unis with the exact details of your qualifications and asking if this meets the entry requirements for that course - don't guess, don't assume.

It won't matter about the Btec subject as you meet the entry requirements with your A level psych. It would only matter if you didn't meet the science requirement with your A level subjects.

Oh okay, do you know why that is and for sure?
Always ask the uni directly regardless of what you are told here. Get something in writing before applying.

It's my interpretation of the entry requirements based on the science requirement being for only one out of three qualifications. But email Birmingham to clarify.
I was told (ableit a few years ago) that regardless of being above the requirements, I wouldn't be able to get in due to the health and social care.

Yes it was for University of Birmingham BSc Psychology. It was in 2020 so it may have changed (worth emailing) but in my case it wasn't possible to get in

Okay that’s disappointing it would’ve been my top choice. Thanks for letting me know

Have you emailed Birmingham? The requirements might have changed since 2020 and saskiahdltea hasn't listed their qualifications so you don't know if they had any science qualifications or not.
Yes definitely worth emailing them but I had A* in Biology and Psychology A Levels as well as D*D*D* in health and social caer so I met the science criteria

Oh wow okay. It’s strange because you wouldn’t do a applied psychology, applied science or applied biology alongside those A level so i don’t know why they didn’t give you an offer. Very harsh
