when should I apply to oversubscribed 6th forms?

I’m currently in year 11 and want to apply to 6th forms such as Loretto, xaverian etc.

I always thought to wait till November mock 1 results to apply to 6th forms.

However, I have found out quite a lot of my year has already sent their applications with year 10 results.

My year 10 results aren’t as good as I think they can be and I think I will do much better in mock 1.

I was just wondering if applying mid/late November would affect getting a place in oversubscribed courses?

( also I am aware the deadlines aren’t until December/January)

Hiya, i'm also in Y11 and are school is telling us to make sure to to get our applications in before our Nov mocks so that we can just focus on them so i think I'd recommend that. In terms of grades most of my friends have applied using their target grades so if you're happy with those then I'd apply asap cos some places (especially grammar skls like loretto and Dean's) do take into account how early everyone applied I think.

Apply as soon as possible as some places take priority in wether you apply early like Loreto does, you don’t have to use your year 10 mocks you can ask your teachers for your predicted grades instead as they are probably higher than your mocks , good luck
