Top up to degree after HND

Asking on behalf of my son

My son completed his HNC between 2023- 2024 in Engineering, and has just started his HND 24-25, both fully funded by SFE. Two separate courses as the college he did his HNC at didn't have the numbers to run the HND, he has to attend a different venue for his HND.

After completing his HND he wants to top up to a full degree at the college he is attending. This will be a one year top up in Engineering as he will be entering in year 3 (the final degree year) due to his previous courses.

Will SFE fully fund his top up year?

Hi there,

So to confirm he will have studied for 2 years for the HNC and HND? The student then wants to do a top up in the 2025/26 academic year? Can you confirm what university he will attend for the top up course?

To confirm he will have had 2 years of previous education to complete a hnc and hnd

His top up degree will be delivered at Accrington & Rossendale College University Centre in partnership with Liverpool john moore University in 25/26. It will be a one year degree course in BEng (Hons) Engineering (top-up) where he will enter in 3 year due to doing the hnc and hnd.
