Tax

Hi if I worked 19 hours a week. and I have 3 breaks in between each shift I worked all 3 being 20 minutes? How many hours would I actually be working and also how much would I take away after tax and national insurance please if my hourly rate is £12.00?

How many hours you're working will depend on whether your breaks are paid or not.

19 hours at £12 an hour is £228 per week.

Assuming your tax code is the standard 1257L and you have no other taxable income, you don't earn enough from that job to be paying income tax.

You're not earning enough to pay National Insurance. That starts at £242 per week.

So you should be taking hour the full £228, unless perhaps you've been enrolled into a pension scheme.

If you have been enrolled in a pension scheme I would recommend that you stay in it, and don't choose to opt-out (unless not opting-out would leave you in financial difficulties).

I dont understand the bit in bold.
But if you work 19 hours a week, and you get paid £12 an hour, then according to my calculator you should be paid £228 a week.
Tax wise, you only pay tax if you earn over £12,570 a year.

Hi so I work 3 days: Monday, Tuesday and Friday. These 3 days are my 3 shifts each shift I’m entitled to a 20 minute unpaid break. So I do 7 on Monday and then 6 Hours on the other two with my 3 break entitlements.

My breaks aren’t paid. That’s correct my tax code is 1257L. I only have one job so there’s no other taxable income.

If your breaks are not paid, then you'll need to calculate how many hours you worked.

For example, if you started at noon and finished at 7pm with a 20 minute unpaid break in the middle, then you'll have earned 6h 40m pay.

So if I did 3 shifts one where I’m scheduled for 7 hours with a 20 minute unpaid break the other two I’m schedule for 6 hours with a 20 minute unpaid break would the total number of hours worked be 17 Hours and 20 minutes worked?

No, you would be paid for 18 hours: 6h40 + 5h40 + 5h40.
