Male hair question

I'm a 21 year old guy and notice that throughout the day I find hairs mostly small sometimes longer ones on my phone or laptop, table etc. How normal is this? I can't see any bald patches on my head.

Its normal for people to lose about up to 100 hairs each day - assuming you have no family history of androgenetic alopecia, are not malnourished and have no signs of autoimmune disease - it COULD be a normal finding.

If you are noticing more hair loss for the first time and its >100 with signs of receding or thinning hair (changing colour, change of hairline, head is feeling colder in winter more than normal, etc) and do have a family history of androgenetic alopecia or autoimmune disease definitely go see your dermatologist as the sooner your start treatment the better.

I do have foliculitis (believed to), but I'm not sure if the hair loss is something always there or just because i started looking out for it because hair loss can be a symptom of foliculitis (though usually rare). I would say most of the hair i find is either on my pillow when i wake up, or just throughout the day. I haven't actually counted so got no idea how many i lose

Go see a dermatologist - they will do several tests like pull test, pluck test, trichoscopy, a physical exam and maybe some blood tests.

They may even give you something for the foliculitis if treatment is needed - you will literally kill two birds with one stone!

Good luck.
