Oxbridge GCSE grades

hi,
i’m currently in year 12 studying maths, fm, physics and chem. i know i really want to do a maths degree, and would really like to apply for cambridge however i’m a bit worried about my gcse grades:
9999998886
my worry is that two of the 8’s were in maths and physics which are obviously most relevant for maths, i kinda just need to know if i’ve ruined my chances already or if it isn’t going to matter because i’ve literally been spiralling over my 8 in maths since results day😭😭
thankyou !!

As long as you've fixed whatever caused you to get an 8 instead of a 9, and you're on track to get A*s in both (or different depending on contextual circumstances), you have a chance. They look at the application as a whole, and take into account school background and extenuating circumstances!

If you're interested in Cambridge and fit the eligibility criteria, I'd recommend applying for STEM Smart: https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/stem-smart The deadline for applying is the 31st October, so you still have some time if you'd be interested! (It's for year 12s).

It's a mentoring scheme with extra academic support, with in-person events towards the end.

thank you so much for replying, the 8s in these subjects were very out of character for me as i’d say they’ve always been my strongest subjects, i did get my maths back to look at the papers as i was very close to the grade boundary for a 9 however i found i lost my marks on silly mistakes such as not using bidmas, including decimals where it just asked for integers etc which is why i am so worried as it’s literally been my dream to study maths at cambridge and now i feel as if i’ve ruined it due to these silly mistakes, i also don’t have extenuating circumstances and my school does fairly well in gcse’s so contextually i don’t think that would help
