Itchy down there

So in the last week or so, my fanny has been really itchy  I don't know why! I'm not sexually active and I'm not on my period, so nothing rubbing... it's mostly the outside, on the skin, but a little on the inside.

What could it be and what should I do?

PLEASE HELP.

Have u got any discharge ?
I like how its "down there" in the threa title, but fanny inside

Have you changed things such as shower gel? Washing powder? Any discharge from the area, or as you said is it just really on the outside?
Erm.. does it sting too?

At worst a yeast infection, and if your getting cottage cheese like discharge then that's the case, and you just need to get some cream for it. (Don't ask how I know these things!)

Best case, dry skin? Or.. are you letting your hair grow out again? That could be it.. maybe you need to wear a different type of underwear.. just clean cotton. :yep:
If it's at all around the vaginal area, you could have thrush, which is easily treated with stuff from a pharmacy. If it's just the outer skin, you could have a simple allergy, like to your shower gel/soap. Is there a rash visible?
Also, if you've shaved etc. it could be razor rash or along those lines. If you're really worried you could ask a doctor though.

Thanks.
No discharge.
Not around vaginal area.
I have just come home from uni so started using different soap/shower products - I guess it could be that, but then it started before I left uni (where I used the same soap the whole time I was there).
Doesn't sting.
I've been wearing pretty plain cotton knickers anyway.
And nope, haven't shaved there. Just trimmed but that was over a week or so ago.
Don't know if there's a rash cause hair is in the way. However, it feels like there are definite bumps (big spots? I don't get spots and these seems bigger)!

So... still don't have any ideas :-S

sounds like thrush darlin....stop scratching and make sure you are showering daily and are not using too much soap !!! xxx
Okay- first things first, dont worry! Theres probably a really simple explanation as to why your feeling itchy "down there". Seeing as you said your not sexually active it can't be STD *phew* calm down.. It sounds very likely that whats happened is that when you wipe yourself after you've weed your doing it the wrong way and so the urine is being transferred to your vaginal area. Or its just generally travelling to that area? This would make you a little sore and itchy I can imagine...Maybe take two showers a day just for the next week or so to remove any remaining urine??

The spots on the other hand sound a bit strange :s-smilie: But I'm pretty sure that they will clear up soon..But what I would advise is make sure your washing your vaginal area using a plain bar of soap. Its best to stick clear of all those smelly, flavoured ones!
If it stays for a couple of weeks though I would go to the doctor or a school/uni nurse...

dont worry!

Thanks. I don't suppose it could be some sort of STD from kissing? (I don't want to sound very stupid here, but some STDs can be spread that way, right?) What confuses me is that it isn't the vaginal area... it's the outer skin at the top. There aren't spots, definitely more bumps :s-smilie: I really hope it does clear up soon! I will see if I can find any plain soap. May be odd explaining to my mum why I'm getting new stuff out

I don't shave there :s-smilie: It's under where there's hair, so I can't even see that well. It couldn't be from trimming (with scissors), could it?
Give it a good scrub with some neutral pH soap.

But it's on the outside. This is what I don't understand. I don't imagine if you had an itchy rash on your arm then soap would help...?

Sounds to me like its nothing to worry about, the lumps will be from the itching, you'll be making it worse, if you leave it alone it will go away but I can imagine that's easier said than done. It'll be a bit similar to a nappy rash type thing so maybe use savlon cream or sudocream or something to help it heal quicker, the itching and lumps will make it swell a bit more and so more likely to chafe which would also make this worse.
Main thing is to not touch it and keep the area clean and dry.

Thanks! That's very helpful advice. I will try to find some savlon/sudocream. I just hope they don't make it worse, but I guess they're made so as not to
