do you think we should be allowed to do homework in detention instead of essays ?

Last friday i had an after school detention as a punishment for messing about in class, it lasted for 1 and a half hours and was VERY dull and boring , we had to sit at our desks in TOTAL silence and write a 3 page essay on why we were being punished, my essay was on the importance of behaving properly in class, surly it would be better if we could do homework in detention, the punishment is being kept in dont you agree ?

I get what you mean and maybe you should voice this to your school. However they may think that if they allowed students to do homework it would be less of a punishment. It’s stupid to force students to sit and write something pretty much irrelevant to their education for an hour and a half though!
