Is Cardiff's Integrated Engineering A Good Choice?

I recently got an offer from Cardiff university for a bachelors in Integrated Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. I saw a lot of people say i should chose mechanical since its more broad, but I like the course in Integrated engineering better. I am prepared to do a masters, in biomedical engineering, mechatronics or anything similar.

If anyone has experience with this program with teaching quality or general course and future, your insight would be really helpful. Thank You

Hi,

Unfortunately I am unable to give any input on the Intergrated Engineering course as I am not an engineering student myself, but if its teaching quality, general satisfaction with the course and future outcomes, I recommend having a look at Discover Uni. It collates statistics from the National Student Survey and employability outcomes, so its a helpful thing to look at. Only downside is that not every single student fills out the surveys so it might be misrepresentative on how everyone in the course feels, but it gives you a good idea

The page here details Cardiff's engineering courses on the Discover Uni website. You're able to compare between courses as well, which can be helpful in choosing what to go for.

But in general, its always good to go for what you'd think you'd enjoy more. You'll be spending the better part of 3 or 4 years studying it in detail after all!

Hi there,

Fatiha said it well. Just to add, my housemate does civil engineering and from her opinion she thinks integrated is more broad, and has more options in the future if you are not 100% sure on mechanical engineering.
Also if you are thinking about a masters, i would check now the requirements for that, as some masters you can only do with a certain engineering undergraduate degree. Also Cardiff uni offers a Medical Engineering undergraduate degree if that is something you are interesting in specialising in or doing long term or doing as a masters.

Hope this helps,
