Applying for economics with ABB

I got BBC in my A-levels, Maths, Econ and Business. Econ and Business were both 5 marks off an A (I don't know if universities will care about that or take it into consideration or whether I'll need to mention it in my PS/reference).

I am retaking Maths and hopefully will be predicted an A so that I will be on ABB or close to AAA?

What choices could I consider?

Unis will not be interested in 'I was only 5 marks away from' - they will only ever look at the grades your achieved.

If you are only retaking Maths then realistically you are on course for ABC. This means no Economics course asking for AAA will be interested in you - they will have their pick of 3 x A/A* applicants - and even a AAB course is pushing your luck.

You might get an offer for an ABB course, but BBB is more likely. You also need one BBC choice in case you don't improve your grades at all.
I know Loughborough took ABB through clearing in 2024 as did Lancaster. Both excellent unis.

That doesn't mean they will make an offer on those as predicted grades.
