errrm i think its impossible to love something if it doesnt have something in return for you as you said. i love making music but only because i get a certain pleasure and satisfaction from making it.

"love" is simply giveing somebody the power to destroy you and trusting them not to
I dont know about loving people. But their people who believe they have unconditional love for God, im not talking about masses of religious people, but rather people such as the Sufi's.

i believe in true unconditional love. And im not a typical hopeless romantic, I can be cynical at times. But I do believe in it, and have loved like that myself
Well Agape love is defined as self sacrificial love, which i guess to a certain extent does exist since most people are able to put the welfare of others before themselves. i suppose when someone says they would die for someone or something (and meaning it) is displaying agape love. If we are talking about love in general tho, i'm all for it! I like to think that it does exist, if not, what do people make such a fuss for?!

in the true definition of agape (as unconditional love) i think it's more a mother-child bond than that of a couple... couples cna have very deep love but i don't think it's quite agape (would they still love each other if they slept around/ tried to kill the others family etc.)

i do believe in unconditonal love. You've heard those stories where the wife/husband loves their partner, but their partner has fallen out of love with them etc.
And i think you have unconditional love for your family.
