Hi I think I have a really similar problem as you. I got 9999888877 at GCSE with no extenuating circumstances and considering loads of people who apply to Durham are Oxford applicants most will have pretty much straight 9s. So I am stressed because of my weaker GCSEs I won’t stand a chance even though I feel I can write a good personal statement.

On top of that, I am resitting my A-levels this year which Durham say they don’t mind if you do and don’t view the application any differently but I still think it may weaken it a bit.

Hiya,

Although it depends on your course, most degrees/courses (including law) tend to look at your A level results and not your GCSE's(although it helps if you also have good gcse's). Durham also does give out contextual offers in specific cases so even if you have circumstances that prevent you from achieving the required marks, Durham does take that into account. You can have a read through the info about contextual offers Contextual Offers - Durham University. Regardless, I would suggest focusing on your A levels and having a look at the entry requirements for law and going from there 🙂

Hope this helps!

Yeah but it’s competitive duh they don’t just let everyone in that passed their GCSE’s

Hi I’m a final year at Durham. I promise you they don’t really judge GCSE’s that heavily, they want strong A levels with a great personal statement. Good luck x
