Help please

Right now I’m in year 12 and I’ve managed to pass maths with a 4 at gcse but I have my heart set on psychology at university, so I need advice should I retake maths and aim for a 5 plus or does anyone know any great that universities accept 4 at gcse for psychology?

I think it would be worth retaking Maths GCSE.

Partly because it would increase the range of universities to which could apply, but also because Psychology has quite a bit of Maths (statistics) in it at degree level, and if you struggle with Maths you might struggle with the degree as a consequence.

Retaking GCSE Maths will provide you with the opportunity to improve your Maths skills / knowledge (it's not just about the grade).

Hi there! I'm Kiera, and I'm in my third year of psychology at university.

Different universities have different entry requirements. For example, at York St. John, the psychology entry requirement is 120 UCAS points (BBB at A-Level), and 3 GCSE's at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths. It is entirely possible to go to university with a grade 4!🤗 I'll link our course page here incase you are interested.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions about psychology at university in general, feel free to reply or reach out!
Best of luck with the rest of year 12😊
