Eeeeek you were wrong in thinking textiles isn't time consuming. I think on average people spend more time in textiles....

But if you love it, it shouldn't matter! Uf you are doing textiles as part of art not DT on aqa, its very open. It's more about textiles design and you create a portfolio and finished peice (dress, skirt, pillow case, just art, anything) as part of your coursework. Then you have a breif set by the exam board which you have a couple months to make a book for, and then you have 2 full days (10hr exam) to finish the whole project. Don't hold me to this, i dont fully understand it myself, but there is only coursework but they are big projects. You are expected to do around 2hrs each week but most people spend 4 hrs (I spend most my weekend....)

Anyway, that may not be fully accurate, but I would advise looking on your exam boards website if you wanted exact details on the projects  This is the general vibe though!!

Oh my word! I was not expecting all THAT but I get what you mean based on what I have heard so that's why I am going to (this year) try and manage my time more efficiency so when I start my coursework. I will be a pro! 😄

i really enjoyed textiles! it was definitely more sketchbook/coursework based than i thought and definitely time consuming but very experimental and i feel like i learnt a lot in terms of skills and things to write about.
some tips:

being on top of annotations is a really good way to stand out - if you think you've said enough, i'd probably add more! always try to add your own opinion/reflections and justify with some fancy adjectives (this goes for artist researches/explorations/theme pages etc.)

i would always make a pinterest board when starting a new theme or a specific sub theme - not with pins of other ppls actual sketchbook spreads but any image that i was drawn to that i could relate to my theme e.g for my ocean theme i had sea creatures and water duh but also ocean related mythology and cool ocean embroidery and beadwork and flowy fabric that looked like water and so on!

defo make some inspo boards when planning your final pieces! so helpful when you have to make a final sketchbook spread on it

i did do eduqas - not sure how it compares to other exam boards but hope this is useful in some way!!
