Am I cooked for Lnat

I have LNAT coming up in about a week, and I am honestly so worried about it... so I wanted to ask what you guys think is the best way to study for it.

I had been using the LNAT collection over the summer and got constant 25+s, the highest being 29. So I wasn't worried about it, and decided to stop studying until last week when I did the practice test on the website and only got 21.
I saw people saying arbitio is the best, and did a free sample test and only got a 20😭. I got anxious and paid for more tests only to get scores of 13 and 14... which are way worse than what I used to get in those textbooks!
I do find the textbooks much easier than the sample official test or the arbitio practice tests, and I am not sure which score to trust.
Should I keep using arbitio or go back to the textbook?

as someone who scored 28 last year, DO NOT USE ARBITIO. it makes you second guess yourself when youre actually right. I took the exam agaim for application this cycle and i feel so weird about it, i feel like it messed me up, in hindsight. Stick to ninja and the official sample tests!

Hi, yeah I do feel like using arbitio messed me up a little bit and am glad to find out I'm not the only one. 28 is very impressive!! You gave me hopes that I could also do good even if arbitio wasn't the right fit for me. Thank you for your advice

You're welcome!!!! Also make sure you really understand the question; if they ask about a part of the excerpt, make sure you read what comes before it and after it, dont be too hasty. And remember they may be moments were you think you have time, YOU DONT. Dont rest for more than 2 seconds after a question. And the essay should be quickly written, 40 mins seems like a long time but it isnt.

Thank you for another reply!! I always tend to read only the part where the question asks me to read so I will be careful with that! Also another question, what kind of practice have you been doing for LNAT? like textbooks or ninja or the sample test from the official website... how did you think the actual test was compared to the problems you had been practicing with?? I know that arbitio is supposed to be lot harder than the actual test, but if you could tell me how you felt about the difficulty overall I would really appreciate it:smile:

It wasnt very difficult to me, i used ninja for multiple choices and then read and took inspiration from the example essays on the website. That should suffice. Interestingly enough, the difficulty of the questions was almost the same as the examples, even got deja vu at many points. You should take note of words you dont understand from your revision and also make sure you focus on the questions and understand what they ask of you, as the questions typically stay the same but the text changes. Good Luck!

I sat my LNAT last week and honestly, I would try not to worry too much about scores. Looking back now I think the real test felt easier than most tests I took in my preparation, as I’d kind of gotten a feel for the exam style. Scores will fluctuate. I went from low 20s starting off to low 30s at my peak then back down to high 10s on Arbitio. Slowly increased to low/mid 20s on there then did my final practice test (an official LNAT paper) the day before the test and scored 18. I would say, out off all the tests I took, the real thing felt most similar to the free test on Law Mint (scored 26/42 on that) with less of a focus on economics. At this stage I wouldn’t rely on Arbitio too much. If you can, complete some more official LNAT papers, but other than that, the textbook should be fine. My passages were quite similar in terms of difficulty to Arbitio (but a lot shorter). The questions fell somewhere between The Ultimate LNAT Guide and the sample practice papers in terms of difficulty, but I found it easier to rule out answers due to their only being 4 options instead of 5 in the real test.

I just did another test and got 28/42, and made me realize again that it is hard to estimate what I would get in the real exam, but it also gave me some hopes:smile: Anyway, thank you soooo much for your continued advice, as someone who is the only student applying for law in the UK unis in my school, your information was very valuable!!!

Thank you for your very specific advise! I just did Law Mint free test, and this felt easier than the practice I had been doing which was honestly a big relief🙂 I will do more official tests and focus on understanding the texts in Arbtio, but wont stress too much about scores overall as you recommended. again thank you for your help I really appreciated it!
