Can't take the HAT

Hello,
My teacher has advised me to try and get a letter from my GP saying i cant take my HAT as ive recently had an operation on my eye. I can see but it's a little bit on and off and unpredictable plus quite uncomfortable. What would happen if I do this? Would it be more beneficial to just struggle through the HAT despite not having much time to prepare due to the recovery process? Would they base my possible admission purely on interview and written work?
Please help! I have been told Id get "special consideration" regardless but I don't know what that would entail

I would contact your college and ask what they think ASAP. It might not be worth it to struggle through the HAT unless they tell you to, as your score might not reflect your actual ability anyway if you’re struggling to see during the exam.

I would contact the college and ask them asap. Not sure if you have had contact from your college yet, though, as my son hasn’t heard anything yet - just an acknowledgment from the central admissions.
I think a letter saying the eye needs to be rested after surgery etc and needing to avoid screens etc should mean they might make some sort of alternate arrangement. It’s going to be hard work scanning and writing online all in an hour. I feel so sorry for everyone having to do the HAT online even without the eye surgery… Good luck.
