Will the B in my predicted grades be a problem?

Apply to do law at Durham, Warwick, York, Surrey and Nottingham. Got my predicted grades today when doing a reference w my head of year but not quite happy with them.

Psychology BTEC - D*
Law BTEC - D*
Sociology - A
English - B
EPQ - A

The English and sociology ones are the ones that I feel a bit iffy about. I got an A last year in sociology AS and feel like I could be predicted A* as it would look better to be predicted a star on one of my a levels as BTECs are undervalued. And I’m confident I’ll be able to do it.

For English, I understand why she put it so low. I’ve only been on the course for 4 weeks. I started English this year (Y13) and I’m doing the full a level this year. So I get it, but also I’m confident I’ll get at least an A and the B looks really unfavourable.

Thoughts on what to do?
Why are you doing 4 main subjects and an EPQ?
You seem to be making it hard for yourself. You only need 3 A levels (or equivalent) so why take 4 ?

Because I love English + most unis I looked at say if u do a BTEC certificate, u must do 2 a levels alongside it and my original course was only 1 a level

I chose to. I love English and most unis I looked at require 2 a levels if u do BTEC certificates
no it won’t be if you have 3 a levels at A/ equivalent. If I were you and were worried about not getting straight As for ur course then I’d drop an a level bc it’s not rlly worth doing 4 if you have 3 predicted As * anyway

I’m not worried about what I’ll achieve. I’m confident I’ll get at least an A in both a levels. I’m more worried abt the impact of the B in my predicted. But there’s nothing I can do now anyway as it’s all been sent to ucas. Thanks for ur help!

If I’m being completely honest, as long ss your personal statement is also up to par, your completely fine for all 5 of those unis you listed. I applied to Warwick, Surrey & Durham with D*AC and got offers from all of them. Got D*AB in Alevel a went to Warwick and declined the rest. My personal statement was really good. Even if your ps isn’t the best your grades are fine I promise I’ve seen worse still get offers from Warwick and Durham (the lowest I’ve seen is ABB achieved grades in alevel and went to those unis, it was under the condition they did 2 or more science based subjects which you don’t do but you’ll be good)and if you really wanted you can represent only 3 of those 5 alevels eg sociology, law and psychology but it’s up to you.

Makes sense. Thank you! I have to take the LNAT next week anyway so hoping that will make me look more favourable too if I can get a high score. My PS - I believe - was pretty good. Went thru 12 drafts so it better be 😭
