Hey! to. find unis to apply to the UCAS website is a really good place to start your research of the courses that you want to apply to. Discover > Courses > Filter.
You can also see if there are any universities that do online open days as that will help you decide if you like the vibe.
On UCAS, there is also the opportunity to chat to students, Discover > chat to students > filter, this is good if you cannot attend in person open days, you can ask the students about student life etc..

Good evening @Arlomazuro

It's great to hear you are thinking of studying in the UK!

I can provide you with an overview of the University of Reading and some tips for your UCAS application.

Overview of the Univerity of Reading:
Generally speaking, the town centre has much to do, including sports activities like bowling. There are also great places to eat out, and there are also a lot of shops in the local town. The transport links into the main town are great and we have a regular bus service which runs every 20 minutes from the middle of the whiteknights campus. There are two different buses. One goes to the local Asda, and the other goes directly into town, where lots of grocery shops, clothing shops, and train stations can be found.

In terms of sports society, there is a wide range of sports, from netball to scuba diving and archery. If you are looking for something perhaps more outgoing, then maybe the mountaineering society might be good to try, as they have weekly indoor rock climbing and bouldering sessions to attend. You can find a list of the societies here.. There is also a sports complex with a gym, gym studios, and sports halls.

The university has a great events program run by fellow students that involves societies. This link has the list of societies run at the university. I highly recommend you visit this website for information on the student union here..

On the UCAS website, you can find all of the courses offered by the University of Reading; you can find this here.

Tips for applying to Univerity via UCAS:
First, you must register with the UCAS website, then write a personal statement to add to your application, and fill out all of the UCAS questions on the application form; these will be personal details. Then, you can submit your UCAS application in the same way as the UK students. The application process is relatively the same. However, you have some slightly different questions to answer. It might be a good idea for international students to calculate your tariff points; this will show you what your country's grades are equivalent to in terms of the UK grades.
When writing your statement, it is difficult to fit lots into it, as you have a limited word count. Therefore, it is great to prioritise the hobbies you love to do.

For international students, the application process is found here.

The calculator for tariff points on UCAS can be found here; both UK and international students can use this.

You must check the course and application deadlines for UCAS. Once a deadline has been completed, you will no longer be able to apply, and you will have to wait until the next year when submissions occur. Alternatively, you can enter the university by clearing. More information on clearing can be found here.

I have written a blog with tips for your personal statement, which can be helpful when applying via UCAS. The blog can be found here;

Below i have included some hobbies and interests which you couk include on your application to the university, but make sure you don't do all of them; maybe find 2 or 3 things you enjoy.

Ideas for personal statements:

school choir

lunchtime clubs, e.g. biology or geography clubs

online seminars

school/college competitions

visiting a museum which you can show a connection to.

Any afterschool clubs, e.g. swimming, netball, judo etc... Anything you might have done since you were little

Girl Guides or Scouts

Duke of Edinburgh ( any stage)

Online competitions- e.g. biology society photography competitions.

A musical instrument.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact me, and I’ll be happy to help answer them.

All the best,
Ella 😀
