Havard or Yale?

Hi everyone I’m thinking of applying to havard or Yale or maybe even Stanford college in the USA.
I am in year 12 who has been predicted BCD….. in a levels = food tech, sociological studies and English studies literature

Idk the grade requirements for Yale or Harvard to do chemistry but I got 9 in food and a 5 in chemistry but the rest 4s and I failed English language oops
But I’m gonna re take it so I’ll be good as gold
My teacher said I’m being unrealistic but I looked at those unis/colleges on YouTube and fell in love with them.
So what are my chances?
Nothing is impossible, but your teacher isn't being unreasonable as BCD will probably not cut it - if you knuckle down, and do well in your resits and A Levels, as well as any admissions tests (sorry, I'm not too knowledgeable on American uni applications!), you can definitely try! Focus on getting good stats as these are incredibly competitive unis.
Good luck!

To my knowledge, America puts their emphasis on two things: your grades, and your extracurriculars. I would highly suggest getting those grades as high as you can, preferably to an A/A* level and choosing few niche extracurriculars to the degree you’ll be applying for. If you will need to take the SAT, aim for 1500+ for sure.

With your current grades it would be next to impossible. Those are two of the most competitive universities in the world - most applicants with perfect GCSEs and Alevels are still rejected. Perhaps consider less competitive unis abroad and in the UK. If it is the ‘look’ of the uni you like, I am sure you will find plenty of alternative unis you would like to attend.

Realistically, you have no chance whatsoever and it is a complete waste of your energy even considering it. Have dreams but keep your feet in reality.

First off, dreaming big is never a bad thing, so kudos for that. 😊
I won’t sugarcoat it: places like Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are incredibly competitive. They look for high grades across the board, along with a strong extracurricular profile. Your current predicted grades of BCD might make it challenging, but it’s not impossible if you show significant improvement.
Retaking your English language and aiming to ace it is a great move. If you can boost your grades in chemistry too, that’ll help. It might also be beneficial to chat with your teachers about ways to raise your predicted grades—they might see your determination and hard work and adjust accordingly.
While these top-tier schools are tough, there are plenty of other fantastic universities that might be a better fit, too. Maybe consider some “reach” schools as well as some “safety” schools to keep your options open.
And hey, it’s always good to explore all avenues. Look into those application requirements in detail and see where you can strengthen your profile. Aim high, but have a solid backup plan, too. Best of luck! 🚀✨
