I'm on draft 6 of my personal statement, and everyone who reads it says it just feels very impersonal. I'm applying for film studies and my statement is focused on my EPQ, a filmmaking day I did with a director, and a screenwriting course. All of these, I've tied back to a particular film and analysed their meaning.
I've been told to talk more about myself, but also to only talk about myself when It's relevant to the course. I love film with everything in me, but that's not a personal story they want to hear about. They also won't want to hear the story of my life, surely they're more interested in what I have academically done to prove my capabilities for the course?
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm applying to Warwick and St Andrews, so I'm incredibly worried about getting in.
