screwed my ESAT up

i’ve just done my ESAT today for cambridge vetmed, i know 100% i did so bad on maths cuz i spent 5mins on the first question and still did not get the answer so i gave up and move onto the next question hopping for the best, then i realised i only had enough of time to complete about 7 questions done for maths despite the fact that they might be wrong and i guessed the rest of them.

for chemistry and biology they went alright but im not confident that it will be impressive enough to make up my failure in maths, do i still get a tiny chance of getting into cambridge?

If your grades are good and your school say good stuff about you, you’ll likely get an interview as they interview 80% of applicants. I wouldn’t say it’s over for you because the interview plays a bigger role and when you look at the spreadsheets of people who get in, they sometimes have terrible NSAA scores. This is likely because they really impressed their interviewers, so make that your goal for the next few months. If you get an interview, it means you’ll be ready, and if you don’t, it means you’ve got a lot better at your subjects. Try to put the ESAT behind you, I did it yesterday (for NatSci) and found it pretty bloody hard, so don’t beat yourself up.

I am in the exact same situation- royally messed up the maths section too. However, after ages scrolling on here, so many people are in the same boat, so your chances are not over!

Maths- 21
Physics- 25
Chemistry 22
This relies on me making no silly mistakes and having the best performance I could have done I reckon.

Not the person you replied to but I think I massively screwed up my ESAT, especially maths, and also hoping for vetmed. I'd love to hear how the rest of your application went if you're able to and interested in sharing? That's fantastic you got in!

i think my personal statement was very strong so that definitely helped! my interview i found very bad and made lots of mistakes but they’re not looking for perfection they just wanna see how you think and whether you can work through a problem with them so i just explained what was going through my head and they really liked that i think!!
