'If you want to tell us why you chose the specific course at Cambridge, you can add a personal statement. This is optional.' Just for clarity, this suggests an additional piece of writing no? Or is it just the old PS i submitted the UCAS.
It's a new piece of writing, specifically tailored to the Cambridge course. It's for courses where the Cam one is notably different to courses at other unis, eg Land Economy at Cam v law everywhere else.
I'm nervous about starting/structuring this does anyone have any examples?
Not an example, but I'm currently writing my MyCam PS (for geography; I'm applying to human geog at all of my other unis so my MyCam application is to show that I do have some physical geog extracurriculars).
I've structured mine by having a mini-intro basically instantly saying why Cambridge's course is particularly interesting to me (around 300 characters). Then my main paragraph about a book I've read and podcast I've listened to about glaciology, and why I like that Cambridge has a module based around this topic (around 700 characters).
My last 200 or so characters were spent talking about how I like Cambridge's supervision system, and how this has helped me.
There are loads of videos on YouTube of people sharing their successful SAQ PS so I'd recommend giving them a little look when trying to write yours if you want to - but just remember that you won't be penalised for leaving the PS blank, and if you have nothing majorly important to mention then it might be worthwhile to not submit one.
