Hi, I sent my application this week, looking back maybe not the best idea as now I have 4/5 months to stress about the outcome 😅.

Anyways is quite early, so I guess I can use the time to prepare for any eventual interviews inchallah.

I applied for Engineering, I meet categories 1, 2, and 3 .

In terms of college preference, since this is an open application, I don't feel like developing strong feelings for any college in particular.

If anyone has questions about the science courses of the Oxford Astrophoria Foundation Year then there is an ongoing Q&A at https://app.sli.do/event/mN3Sqwvh58Zxw56qK5Sh92. Doesn't apply to law, PPE or humanities, or to general questions.

Is anyone attending the webinar tonight?

Applicant to engineering here. Predicted AAB in Maths, Chemistry and Physics (B in Chemistry).
12 places for the engineering course... yikes!
Hoping my strong PS (verified by my Physics teacher) and references helps pull me through to an interview. 🤞

Hello fellow engineering applicant, actually… there are up to 4 places for engineering. 12 is the amount of places for (Chemistry, engineering and Material sciences combines)

I’m predicted BBC, the entry requirements for engineering here are AAB. I meet all entry requirements for the foundation course and have had a lot of extenuating circumstances and a really good PS. Is it worth applying or will I get instantly rejected?

I was in their webinar earlier this month and they said AAB (or as otherwised specified for the other courses) was an absolute minimum, even saying that something like A*BB wouldn't be appropriate for AAB, so I wouldn't suggest it.

This is what they said when answering a Sligo queation asking which candidates gets rejected pre-interview:

“The most common reason for not being shortlisted for interview is that the grades or predictions are not at the minimum level for the Foundation Year (for AFY science this is AAB with the A's in science or maths). Or alternatively that the candidate is not eligible under the fairly strict AFY criteria (see https://foundationyear.ox.ac.uk/eligibility for how to check). The most common reason for not being offered a place after interview is that there were better candidates: the process is rather competitive, as it is for direct entry to Oxford's degrees.”

You might want to try next year if you get grades that meet the requirements.

Decent set of results! Mine weren't as good:
8,8,8-8,7,6,5 and a Level 2 Merit in Design Tech.
I hope GCSE's aren't too much of a consideration.
