MPAS University of Reading

Hi, I was wondering how many applications does the University of Reading receive for Physician Associate Studies (Undergrad) and how many offers are made.
Also, could you please describe the selection process and when we should typically hear back from University of Reading.
Thank you
Hello!

The intakes/ cohort sizes vary between years at the University of Reading. Typically, there are around 30 - 100 students in a degree course, but this varies between courses, and I am not entirely sure about physicians. However, if you use the ask a question function via this webpage, they can provide a more accurate number.

You can track the progress of your application on UCAS Hub. The university considers every application, so don’t worry if you don’t hear back immediately. If your application is successful, you'll receive an offer from us. There are two types: conditional and unconditional. A conditional offer means your offer is subject to achieving your grades or providing further information. An unconditional offer means that you have already met the course requirements.

In general, the university uses the information supplied in your application form, including your personal statement, predicted/achieved grades, and the reference supplied by your school or college. This is then processed via the admissions team, and they will decide who is the best fit for the course depending on the applications received; this, again, will vary between years, as different students with different grades and experiences will apply every year.

I hope this helps answer your questions, and if you have any more, please let us know.

All the best,
Ella 😀

How are you finding the PA regulations after just graduating is it true there is barely any jobs in the job market at the moment?

Yes there is barely any jobs atm. Plus RCGP are against PAs being employed in GP setting. So now the job market has become more competitive than ever. Because before 40% of PAs were in gp and I’m hearing some PAs have also been made redundant (not sure but likely). Plus I also know people who graduated a year ago before me who still don’t have jobs.
Idk if you have seen an news article from the BBC about this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9qgxxxpggyo.amp
This is just one of many Pa who had to take alternatives such as retail as there are no jobs
