Business studies a level for Cambridge?

Hi does anyone know anyone who has either been to oxbridge or has been given an offer by oxbridge with one of their a levels being business studies, I’m taking French psychology and business studies and an epq for a levels and considering I got top grades e.g A*A*A* would I still be able to potentially get an offer from Oxbridge despite one of my options being business studies, I have heard a lot of controversies and I’m scared it’s limiting my options of uni, so would it still be possible for me to go to an Oxbridge uni
Thank you

It might help people to give you more precise advice if you said what subject you were hoping to study

(Personally, I wouldn't regard either Business Studies OR Psychology as particularly 'academic' A levels - for example Psychology often isn't regarded as a science from the point of view of applying for a science degree - but that's probably just me! Certainly either would be fine as a third A level behind 2 'strong' traditional subjects, but to an extent the subject you apply for is going to determine how suitable your A levels will be.)

Psychology is a traditionally academic subject, it's just not a science subject.

That's fair enough - it wasn't really offered at A level many centuries ago when I went through the system, so to me "traditional" is basically Maths (+FM), English, Physics, Bio, Chem, French, German (+ other modern langs), Econ, History, Geography

I was really just being a bit coy as OP hadn't indicated what subject they wanted to study (which really should come first before they start deciding on "Oxbridge"), However, every so often someone pops up on TSR and gets upset because (e.g.) they want to do Natsci and discover that Psychology isn't accepted under the list of science A levels!

If you might want to do Psychology, Cambridge requires one of maths or biology (your choice). Swap business for one of those and you keep all three open.

Law no subject reqs, and you're ok for languages but I would strongly recommend - as someone who did languages at Cambridge - swapping business for Maths or something like English Lit or History just in terms of useful skills to pick up. Business sits in the less recommended at Cambridge category so if you've just started Y12, honestly swap it. Psychology is no problem at all, but as mentioned, doesn't meet the Cambridge course requirements for that.

Cambridge describe Business A-level as "less helpful" to your application:

It is listed as “less helpful”, which will make you a little less competitive, but might still be worth a shot if you have great grades and great super curriculars, and if you have some other genuine safeties. At the end of the day, you only need 2 offers, one for your firm and one for your insurance.
