What a levels should I pick based on this

-my mum is dead set on me choosing chem and bio, because she wants me to do dentistry and “keep my options open”. I get what she’s saying but I know that if I was able to choose between sciences and essays I’d definitely choose essays.
-also in gcse she made me choose geography, but now I want to do history a level and I can’t because there’s too much catching up
-I want to do maths, but also an essay subject like English language, but if I do chem and bio I’d have to choose between them
-I’m good at maths, but also I’m good at essay writing and RS
-I want to do law when I’m older. I know there’s no requirements from units for law, but I’m much more likely to get in if I have essay a levels than sciences
-my mum doesn’t really want me to do law, and I know that I shouldn’t just do whatever she says but also she is just trying to keep my options open and she has 2 other kids who did medicine so she knows what she’s doing. But the thing is she doesn’t want me to do law, my options are dentistry, software engineer, and actuary
-if I could choose I’d do chemistry maths and English language. But tbh the only reason I’d pick chemistry is in case I wanted to do something like neuroscience.
I have predicted all 9s in my sciences, and 4 8s and 2 7s. The 7s are in English tho but it’s only because my teacher thinks I’m a bit unserious

well first of all, your GCES are great! you could definitely get into any of those options mentioned at Russell group unis, maybe even the top ones like cam bridge Oxford etc.
for the love of God, do not pick an a level or a university course fully based on wha your parents are forcing you into. you are going to be in school for 2 years at college/sixth form, then another 3-5 years depending on what uni course you will pick (dentistry is 5 by the way), then working until about 70 when you'll retire. do you really want to waste all that time on subjects and courses you don't truly love.
A levels are very difficult, unless you have true dedication to the subjects you pick, you will not achieve top grades. Pick what you love and what you know you're good at. at the end of the day you know yourself best you know your strengths and weaknesses. Her options are great but if you don't like them you won't be as dedicated and determined to reaching those goals. maybe look into universities and see what subjects they want you to take at a level in order to get into their course, then base your decision on that. for dentistry you do have to take chem and bio at 90% of the unis. taking chemistry and maths together is a good option some topics in those subjects are linked together, similar to chem and bio. for Law most universities don't mind what a levels you take as long as the results are good. if you're good at essay writing, you'll love English language and possibly social sciences like psychology sociology criminology. your subject choices look good so far. if you're really keen on picking what your mum wants as well, you can always try four a levels (chem, bio, English language, maths) and then drop one early on when you learn what you like and what you don't like about the subjects. or chem, bio and English language- biology has an essay in it so maybe with English language you can learn the skills to write quick in short amount of time which can help you with the biology exam essay.
I think doing work experience/shadowing for these career choices will ultimately help you pick which career you want because you get to see and experience what these professionals do in their day to day life

Pick the subjects you want to do based on your strengths, interests and aspirations. Ultimately it’s your life so your choice, not your mums.
For medicine, you dont necessary need both chem and bio. You would have options with one and another STEM subject. If you’re wanting to keep the stem route open then chem and maths will to this the most as a single combo i think, plus you have said you enjoy maths. But if you dont wanna pursue the sciences then go for essay subjects or one STEM and two essay based subjects.
Definitely make sure to have a look at the spec for English lang cos the a level is very difference from gcse.
Most sixth forms dont require history gcse to do a level, there’s no previous knowledge really so if they do its just they want evidence that you can write essays so check sixth form requirements.

If you enjoy the sciences, than your Mum might be right, but I do know of quite a few cases where someone was encouraged to do sciences by a parent but didn’t actually enjoy them so did badly. At A level they’re pretty complicated, and you need to like what you’re learning to do well.I do maths, Geography and Politics. I would highly recommend maths, as it’s pretty structured and if you enjoy it now you will probably like it at. A level. Essay subjects are also great, but definitely don’t pick 3 essay A levels, it can be overwhelming, you can get away with 3 STEM better as they link a lot.Overall I don’t think sciences open your options any more than essays, unless you already want to do something STEM related at Uni/ for a job. To do law a lot of people do History or English Lit, but you probably want to find it easy at GCSE to not find it supper hard at A level.

At the end of the day you’ll be going to uni so it’s ultimately your choice imo.
If you want a variety of fields I’d recommend sciences such as bio or chem (don’t recommend both)
Personally for law I’d recommend psychology, English lang or lit & if you wanna keep neuroscience open go for chem or bio <3
Apart from languages and sciences most schools teach courses based on the assumption that you have no prior knowledge in that area. Don't let not having done something at GCSE put you off doing it at A level. Try to pick what your good at and what you'll enjoy, there is no point in getting good prospects from doing a subject if you'll be miserable. Good luck with GCSEs

A level psychology is good. Mainly essay writing but still some maths and logical thinking etc

Absolutely do NOT pick any subjects, especially any STEM subjects based off what your mum thinks you should do. They're very difficult and very time consuming. A levels are 100x harder than GCSEs, and will be taking up so much more of your life. I know people who breezed through science, maths and further maths GCSEs with 9s and are working at Ds and Es at A level in the same subjects.

That being said, law has no subject requirements for a reason - you are no less likely to get into uni with STEM A levels than essay subjects, assuming your essay-writing skills are good. That goes for most unis (including Cambridge). Don't feel like you have to pick essay subjects. What IS important is your academic performance, so pick subjects you will excel in.

Honestly, the best tip really is just to pick the subjects you enjoy the most. Think of your ideal subjects. What would you be happy to spend hours of your life studying each week? What subject do you actively look forward to when you go to school? Any that you have a particular "knack" for, or come quite naturally to you?

Most importantly, don't pick your subjects based on what your mum says. She's not sitting your A levels, you are. Best of luck for your GCSEs!
