Pharmacy interviews

Hey guys,

So I’m going to be applying to pharmacy this year, I found out that they do give out interviews for this course.
Anyone who has applied to pharmacy or has done pharmacy, could you please let me know what type of questions they ask you in interviews.

Do they ask you news questions of anything related to pharmacy e.g I know for medicine they usually ask questions on the state of the NHS and how AI may change the NHS, do they ask questions like that in pharmacy interviews ( news related) ?

Hi @Hxsna_st

My name is Dominic and I am a 4th year pharmacy student at the university of Nottingham!

Interview questions differ between universities, so unfortunately I can only describe the sorts of questions for the University of Nottingham as I assist with the interviews here!

Nottingham:

•

Ice-breaker

•

Interest in pharmacy (why pharmacy in particular)

•

Ethical dilemma (testing your judgment around confidentiality and professionalism as a pharmacist)

•

Chemistry questions (usually to name a specific functional group on the chemical given to you and how it contributes to its effect (acidic, basic things like that)
The university just want to get to know you as a person and are not expecting you to get every question right (I certainly didn't!), they like to see how you approach problems, and how you are able to communicate that.

Hope this helps,
if you have further questions do ask!

Dom 🙂

Hi I have got a Nottingham Mpharm interview in 2 weeks and was wondering how you prepared for yours? Should I focus on hot topics on pharmacy as well?

Hi @Adheenasunil,
Congratulations on getting an interview!

For my interview, I focused on making sure my maths was up to scratch, they will be asking simple calculations such as dosages. Ethics is another big part of the interview, so have a look at the 9 standards of Pharmacy professionals to see how pharmacists are expected to behave in situations. Another subject they like to test is your chemistry skills, nothing harder than what you are doing at school at the moment.

Other than this, the interviewer just wants to see what you are like as a person, and why pharmacy is the right degree for you and your interest in it.

Goodluck!
