dropping LLM award from LPC

I have just recently passed my dispute resolution resit, third time lucky. The only exam I have failed is my 4th elective, which I do not plan to resit.

I am aware I can drop the LLM and just graduate with the LPC if I have passed all the other required exams, but I am worried about how this will effect my funding.

For context, I started the LPC in September 2022 and my course technically finished in June 2023, I have just had to do resits since then and so I had paid the postgraduate loan to ULaw for my tuition in full whilst I was on the course. I have started making repayments for the masters loan as I earn over the threshold in my job, will I just continue to make the repayments as normal in line with my salary, or would SFE demand the full amount back at once?

Hi there,

Is the LPC qualification still a Masters qualification?

Thanks,

Hi, the LPC Postgraduate Diploma is not a Masters qualification, I completed the course last June but have had to resit two exams, so technically the loan was not overpaid because I didn't withdraw before the course finished.

All I want to know is whether I would have to repay the loan all at once or whether I would continue to pay it from my payslip as I have been for the past few months.

Hi,

I have just spoken to SFE on the phone and they confirmed the repayments will just continue to come out of my payslip as normal!

Hi Liv, That is great, as long as you have received the answer to your question. Thanks, Angela
