Struggling with mental health during A-levels

Hi,

I’m currently in Year 12, and I’m really struggling to balance my mental health and my A-levels.

I often feel so sad I can barely get myself out of bed or get myself to do largely anything, studying, taking care of myself etc- and I think it’s in part due to the fact that I’m so sad I just cannot see a future for myself anymore. I’ve always loved school, and wanted to study something biology or history at uni since I was little. But now I just feel so hopeless, and that no matter what I do I’ll never get what I want, and I’ll just be sad forever. And it makes it so difficult to study.

Any advice on how to handle this? I have already requested counselling with sixth form. But, I haven’t spoken about them outright about my struggle to see a future for myself, and how it’s effecting my studies.

I more so mean if you have any advice on how to deal with this until I start getting counselling, and going forward.

Thank you

You’ve taken the first step and acknowledged the situation. Well Done! Sometimes you have have to hit rock bottom to rise again. Make tomorrow your first day just day one small thing, be it get out of bed in time, go for a walk anything will do. Also make a list of all the positives in your life. Look at this list whenever you feel down. Remember an ‘idle mind is a devil’s workshop’ keep yourself occupied that way you will feel productive and avoid any negative thoughts. Routine is the key to keep your mental health in check until you receive professional help. I promise you you’ve got this, let tomorrow be the start of something new and positive
