Year12-Uni??

Hey guys, I'm currently in Year 12 with Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics as my 4 A-Levels.
I am an international student studying here and was wondering what's the process of getting into a uni, and I really want to get into a russel group one.

You apply the September of the year before you want to go.(e.g. Sept 2024 for 2025 entry). All applications go through UCAS.

You have 5 choices (there are little caveats, but based off your A'levels it won't apply to you).
If you want to apply for Oxbridge, you can only apply to one out of Oxford or Cambridge.

You'll fill out some details, select your choices (although you can select one and add the others later on, when you've submitted your application) and write a personal statement (4000 words). If you're in year 12 now, by the time it comes to applying, the personal statement would have changed a little bit, but the core is the same (you'll cross that bridge when you reach it). There's also a reference that your teacher/school will write.

The deadline for Oxbridge tends to be Mid October (15th usually) and then everything else can be submitted in January.

Once you apply, you may need to sit tests or interview. If everything goes well, you get an offer. If it doesn't you may be rejected. Some unis may put candidates 'on hold' whilst they scope out the field and see how well your application fares.

You select two universities, a firm and an insurance. Your firm is your first choice, your insurance is your second choice (if you don't get into your firm).

Obviously you sit the A'levels and then come results day, you'll be placed at your firm or insurance (or may be entered into clearing).

That's the process at a high level, let us know if you want more details in specific places.
