I am scared to use dating apps cause I'm shy.

I'm 21 and a female and never been on a dating app and I'm too scared to try. What if my brother sees me on it? Should I ask my dad for permission? What if a bully from school sees me on it and catfishes me for ***** and giggles? How do I even have the confidence to meet up with the boy if we do hit it off? How do people do this arghhh>?

In my opinion I think online dating is for people who r confident with themselves, so confident that they don't care what people who that've never met think about them. If ur shy then I guess online dating is not for u?? Is going on a dating app really that urgent to u?

I personally think that real realtionships are waaaay better than online ones

In contrast I use online dating because I don't enjoy being in rooms full of people I don't know in a social, no-agenda context. But actually, I guess you're right that I don't care much what people who have never met me think about me.

"real relationships are way better than online ones" yeah, I definitely try to get out of the online space with a person as soon as possible. The app is just a means to an end, it's not where the relationship takes place.
@toppby55 It's fine to be shy on a dating app. You don't have to swipe or match with anyone you're uncomfortable with, you're totally in control. Most dating apps can link to your social media or contacts and prevent you from seeing or being seen by people you know.

Catfishing is not too much of a problem since many accounts are photo ID verified. Also most catfishes use weird grainy pictures or supermodel-attractive pictures; they're pretty easy to distinguish.

If you're too shy to meet a person in real life... that was always going to be a problem, wasn't it? But at least you can chat with the person you're thinking of meeting for as long as you like (or as long as they'll entertain you) before deciding if you want to meet. Like I said you're totally in control.
