IGCSE and Abitur sufficient?

Hi Im from Germany and went to boarding school in UK for a year. Now as I apply to LSE, St Andrews, Kings etc. For PPE I m worried that my IGCSE is not good enough since many students from Uk have only A*:
IGCSE:
Math: 8
English: 4
History:5
Biology:8
Spanish:8
German:9
Abitur: predicted 1.1
Are those grades sufficent for PPE????

I suggest that you visit the web page for PPE on each uni's web site.

For example, LSE's (here) says:

"For GCSEs, you’ll need several GCSE grades at A (or 7) and A* (or 8-9).

As a minimum, we ask for GCSE English Language and Mathematics grades at B (6) or higher. We’ll also consider your overall GCSE subject profile."

Although you meet the Maths GCSE requirement, you don't meet their minimum requirement for English. Any application you made for PPE at LSE would therefore be immediately rejected. Sorry. :frown:

I haven't checked the other unis you mention, but I strongly suggest that you do.

Are you sure???, because on top of that it says for Applicants from UK, but I am an International Applicant which is also the reason for my bad English GCSE

That's a good point, and as result I'm not sure. Perhaps I was hasty in my response.

You say that you went to boarding school in UK. Is that where you took your IGCSEs? If so, then they might expect your GCSEs/IGCSEs to meet the standard of those educated in the UK.

If we assume that they won't, and instead look at the English language expectations of international students - detailed here - where they list of lot of different ways you can demonstrate your English language proficiency. These include:
GCSE English Language: Grade B/6 or above
IGCSE English (Language) as a first language: Grade B/6 (plus the relevant Speaking and Listening component)

Or are you planning to demonstrate your English language skills in some other way - via the IELTS, for example?
