Alternative Careers to Physician Associate

Hello,
I have been thinking about this for quite some time now and it has been really playing on my mind. I recently finished my undergraduate in physician associate studies which was a 4yr degree and now that I have finished.
There has been so many issues with the profession in the past couple of months. I had hope for sometime that things will change but they don’t seem to be getting any better (in fact getting worse)- from fpa resigning to rcgp deciding to stop employing PAs to some PAs also being made redundant recently. I know a few people who qualified a year ago who still haven’t had any luck with jobs till now. It has now become so so competitive to get a job as PAs from previous years who have not been in work are looking, newly qualified are also looking and also Pas who have worked before and their contract ended are also looking.

The job market for Pa is not improving and everyone around me keeps saying it will get better which I think may get better but not a lot will improve from what I’ve researched.
There are still so many unis taking in so many students without looking at the current Pa situation.

Anyways I have tried looking into alternative careers I could do but most was things like health tech. Is there any others?
Any courses you think I should consider?
I thought of GEM but I’m a bit conflicted about it , the extra 4yrs + 2yrs + etc. idk what to do. I’m so lost 🫠😢

I hear you. Its similar for me and a lot of my friends. These unis are lining their own pockets selling a course with false advertising. Its shameful and unethical.

You have lots of options, depends on what you type of job you want and they would require further qualification. Do you want to stay in healthcare or move out totally?
You could try management consultancy work or marketing with your transferrable skills.

I don’t really mind going out of healthcare but I am not sure what things are available that I could do with the degree. How could I use the PA degree for management and marketing? Will I have to take extra courses?

same situation.Need a change.org. need to file a compliant against government and universities for false advertisement.
These universities carry on conducting this course instead of shutting down. Leave messages on social media to stop this atrocity to current students and graduates. I think UMAPS and PA groups are focussing on keeping their jobs. they don't have any plans for us. Email these people

and HIEEE head. I found them on X and Facebook HIEW.
shower them with complaints.

Many still advertise high job prospects even though RCGP have said no role, and BMA have said PAs should be phased out. I get that no degree gaurentees a job, but the PA situation is hopeless.

Kawahi - just apply for the jobs. You have to sell your transferrable skills. These companies like people from different backgrounds and skills who can problem solve with diverse solutions!

If you are open to additional training in healthcare, SFE considers nursing, midwifery and AHP courses to be exceptions from previous study so you should be eligible for both tuition fee and maintenance loans. This applies to both undergrad and pre-reg masters courses. Pre-reg masters are two-year versions of the three-year undergrad, and graduates from both courses enter the NHS on salary band 5.
