Is a chemistry qualification needed for Gateway to Medicine courses?

Okay this might sounds crazy because of course you need chemistry to do med but i’ve heard that the gateway to med courses go over a lot of the higher chemistry course. And some of the websites don’t say chemistry AND biology. If i applied to aberdeen this year does anyone think id have a chance?? Would my personal statement have to be completely centred around medicine?? I’m literally so desperate for any chance to do med lol even though i’ve never done chem. Pls be nice 😭.

Also i am applying to mainly tech type of degrees this year if that helps anyone

Would you be applying with Scottish Highers or A levels? And what subject do you have?

Aberdeen's entry requirements for Gateway2Medicine, here, say they need, "A minimum of 4 Highers at AABB over one or two sittings (over S4-S6). This must include any two sciences from Chemistry, Maths, Biology/Human Biology and Physics". So, no requirement for Chemistry there.

However, they also say, "Graduates, non-Scottish domiciled applicants, international applicants, and those who have previously enrolled on a higher education programme are not eligible to apply for this programme." (my emphasis)

OK. Then "highers in biology, computing, maths, english and modern studies" meets the "This must include any two sciences from Chemistry, Maths, Biology/Human Biology and Physics" requirement.

Chemistry is not required.

Hi all, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account here. Just wanted to say that it might be with getting in contact with our Gateway2Medicine team to see if the course itself would make up the Chemistry requirements for Medicine. You can give them an email on [email protected] and find more information on the course here: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/smmsn/undergraduate/g2m/index.php
Hope this is helpful!
