Make the examiners walk back to the centre !!!

If the driving examiner that failed you is in the same place as you are after your death, you are not in heaven.

I find it very frustrating to have spent a fortune on driving lessons and exams for them to fail me within 5 mins then make me drive around for the remaining 35 mins. It would be for the dumbest reasons too and they may change up the story when they speak to your instructor, then you would have to wait approx 11 days to book another and in that time frame, you question your existence as to why you would let somebody make you look stupid.

And to top it all off, they will initiate a conversation to make it seem as if they are your friends and have your best interests when asking questions like ,”what team do you support?”, “what are you doing at the moment?”,”bad weather today?”, only to find out that it will be them having the last laugh and not you.

All It takes is for you to take a sneak peak on that examiners iPad, to know how many serious faults you have acquired. The next time i take a test and i see a serious or if i have known that i messed up for some dumb reason i could be marked down for i am going to pull over and ask the examiner to exist the vehicle and walk back to the centre , you will not
be getting free accommodation any longer, why not pull me over after the 5 mins and end the test, you will be much respected then !!!

The examiner wants to see the full range of mistakes you are making so you can learn from them! It's no good stopping you after one serious mistake and giving you feedback, for you to fail on other mistakes that you've made previously, but weren't flagged up to you.

In my personal experience, examiners fail people for very valid reasons. I've never come across one of them fail someone for a dumb reason.

The driver may well have done something dumb, but the examiner won't have done.

Even if you're 200% sure you've failed the test, you should still carry on and try to complete the rest of the test to the best of your ability.

I've seen a few examples where someone has been totally convinced they've failed, and they've passed.

You should not be trying to take sneak peaks at their tablet as it's impossible to drive as safely as you can whilst doing so.

It would be really dumb to ask the examiner to get out the car - because you may have still been passing. And you may as well get your money's worth for the full feedback on your driving.

You can generally take your test with a passenger sitting (silently) in the rear of the car. Do this.
You can also take your test in a car with a dashcam fitted. Do this if you conveniently can.

For sure the driving test isn't perfect. But it's reasonable enough for helping to maintain safety on our roads without being too over the top in making learner drivers jump through hoops.

You don't have to spend a fortune on driving lessons. You can just get insured on a manual car (eg one you intend driving after you've passed your test) and drive round with an amateur instructor, such as your mum. With you watching youtube videos to help you with your learning.

Right as everyone has said they don't pull you over for little things they want to see what mistakes you can make in the future as you won't have your instructor in the sit next to you.

You need to be able to do everything safely.

Having a sneak peek at what the examiner is doing isn't going to help your confidence if there is negative points on there. Positive can do the same.

The 40 mins goes well quickly feels more than 10 mins.

Oh dear, you sound like one bitter young person!

Firstly, can I point out that examiners don't 'fail' people, they just observe and record the mistakes that you make. It isn't their fault if you do something wrong.

An examiner is not allowed to stop a test after 5 minutes, unless the test is terminated due to dangerous driving or mechanical breakdown. They have a legal requirement to conduct at least 30 minutes on the road for the test to be valid.

Yes they initiate conversation, the reason being to cut the ice and help you relax - they ARE human beings.

You cannot take a sneak peek at the examiner's iPad. There is a legal requirement that says any device such as this where the display changes, must not be visible to the driver. It would be a distraction; therefore the iPads have a privacy screen which means they cannot be viewed from an angle.

If you wish to voluntarily terminate the test and make the examiner walk back to the test centre, feel free to do so. Just be aware that you will also have to walk back, or sit there for half an hour for your instructor to turn up!

The best advice I can give you if you want to be successful, is to drop the attitude. Driving examiners are just ordinary people. They are not out to get you. They would much prefer to see you drive well and pass, because it makes their job a hell of a lot easier!
