FE College or University for Art Foundation YEAR

Hi
Are the Further Education courses such as Foundation in Art Diplomas the same as a University Art & Design Foundation year. In other words if I go to a FE college to do a Foundation Art Diploma will that mean if I wish to study Fine Art at degree level, will that mean I have 3 years to do instead of 4 to complete a BA (Hons) in Fine Art?
Thanks

They are not the same.
A foundation diploma is a stand alone FE course that will give you an experience of lots of different creative pathways and lead to a stand alone qualification. You are then free to apply wherever you want once it is completed.

A foundation year leads to no qualification and you would have to remain within the University that you did the year. You might be able to switch to a degree course within the university.

I would absolutely recommend the foundation diploma over the foundation year!

Oh thanks for that information. Good to know. Cheers

And a degree following a foundation diploma would be 3 years rather than 4.
