GCSE as a Homeschooler

I've been homeschooled since the end of Year 6. Now that I'm in Year 11, I'm finding it difficult to revise effectively, do you have any tips?
Hi! I was homeschooled so understand it’s tricky to know how to revise or where to look for resources as you’re not really told!
My advice would be to try out lots of different techniques (like blurting, practice questions, flashcards, teaching others, blookets etc) and see what works the best for you as everyone is different!
Let me know if you want any tips for a particular subject and ill try my best to help 🙂

Sure, I got a 9 in both of those and am doing them for a level so more than happy to help!

Maths:
The most important thing to do is to do lots of practice questions. A resource I highly recommend for this is Corbett maths 5-a-day as this gives you 5 questions per day of the year and you can choose which level to work at depending on what grade you’re working at!
If you get a question wrong, write the answer and leave it for a while. Watch a video on how to do that type of question- channels like gcsemathstutor and Corbett maths are fantastic if you dont understand something. Then come back to the question and treat it as a show that question so you have to work from the question to the answer correctly.
Once you’ve understood the concept, do a bunch more practice questions on them- Corbett maths again is great because they have full pdfs of questions for different gcse skills!

Physics:
Cognito is great for learning the concepts- they have videos on their platform and then questions, quizzes, flashcards, exam practice etc which is extremely helpful!
If you’re looking for a textbook then CGP is excellent- they also have online exam practice questions which i found really helpful. If you don’t like physical textbooks they have an online version which i found useful for using on my iPad but there’s also notes on bbc Bitesize which are just as good i would say if you’re not wanting to purchase a textbook (would recommend it though as i found it helpful if you’re able to).
Isaac physics is a really good website for practicing calculations with will make up around 40% of your marks so if you struggle with them practice is key.
The other major thing you’ll want to work on is practicals- as you’re homeschooled you might do these but then again might not. If you’re not doing them then definitely watch videos on them to learn them as 15% of your grade is on the experiment related content. Malmesbury science does really good videos, there are great methods in the CGP textbooks and also the channel science shorts has really good summaries for both practicals and overviews of all content on papers! Working scientifically is often overlooked and might not be taught on some platforms like Cognito- freesciencelessons has a great video series on this (as well as all topics so I recommend checking them out too!)

Hope that helps, happy to try to answer any more questions if you have them 🙂 Hope you have a great day and good luck with your studies!

For Maths I recommend Maths Genie and Corbett Maths websites. Both of which are free.

As for revision tips - make flash cards, use CGP books, use YouTube videos, and do lots and lots and LOTS of past papers.
