Further Maths as a 3rd A-Level subject

Hi,
I'm a year 13 studying Maths, Further Maths, and economics at A-Level and AS physics.
I have recently applied to Cambridge, Warwick, Nottingham, Loughborough, and York for economics but I'm really worried that my application wont be seen as competitive as other because Further Maths is my 3rd choice after dropping A-Level Physics to do AS-level.
I've heard from others that universities like Cambridge or Warwick don't accept Further Maths as a 3rd subject as its too similar to Maths but it's too late for me to change back to A-Level phsyics and I'm STRESSING.
I'm predicated A*A*A* and an A for AS physics, please let me know if my application will still be on par with other and that I have a chance for the Uni still.

Thanks!!
You'll be fine with your subjects for Cambridge.

Thanks so much, you don't understand how much better I feel.
My decision to drop physics was very last minute - as in 2 days before the application date so I was stressing hard.

But anyway, thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it!

Hi there,

It's great to hear that you've applied to study Economics at York! 🎉

The A level entry requirements for our Economics course are AAB (including Mathematics), so on face value I think having Further Maths as your third A level shouldn't be a problem.

But if you are at all worried, I'd recommend getting in touch with the Economics undergraduate admissions team ([email protected]) to ask their opinion, as they are better placed to help you than I am.

I hope this helps to reassure you, and best of luck with the outcomes of your application - Hannah 😀
