Drayton Manor or William Perkin Sixth Form

I'm trying to filter my options but don't know how 😅 if anyone has been to either or just has some advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

honestly im having the same problem as you, but why not apply to both? im pretty sure you can apply to as many sixth forms as you want... william's average result for a-level in 2024 was B- and C+ in 2023, i can only find 2022-2023 and 2020 for drayton which were both B-, so i'd say theyre both around the same level. and considering theyre both in west ldn, the people are (presumably) similar too. my only advice would be to go to their open evenings (drayton's was a week ago i believe) and see what the school is like + ask about the subjects you want to take

Hi! Thank you for the reply. I did go to Drayton's open evening, I liked it but the grade average and pupil destinations put me off. In general I think William Perkin has better results overall across several years (and more people going to Oxbridge and Russel group), while Drayton Manor is amazing in terms of extra- and supracurriculars and things like work experience and summer programmes etc.

I am thinking of applying to both of course, but I'm leaning more towards William Perkin because of the grades, but who knows (if they will have enough space yadayada) 😅

What schools are you deciding between? Let me know how it goes for you! 😊
unfortunately i missed the drayton's open evening but i wasnt really planning on applying, i just thought i could have it as a "just incase" thing? william is pretty good, im probably going to their open evening. but so many people from the trust schools are applying to william, and they get priority so i dont even know if there will be enough spaces 😭 honestly id rather take the journey and go to a very good school than do it based on distance, so im planning on applying to ncs, henrietta barnet, harris westminster, imperial, st doms, lae and brampton. also what subjects are you planning on picking??

Yeah I agree with you on the quality over distance thing. Nice choices. btw! I'm still contemplating applying to Henrietta Barnett, NCS and Harris because they were my first choices (disregarding distance), but I'm worried it might be unrealistic since there could be problems with traffic or the weather e.g. which makes it unreliable even if I'm willing to travel the distance. 😬
I'm planning on taking chemistry, biology, maths, further maths and maybe and EPQ, but I may change my mind. 😅

we're basically the same person loll !! im also doing the same a levels as you, and tbh i think an epq will be useful not just for uni applications but also as a way to explore your interest. i do get what you mean by unrealistic, and london's weather, traffic, and unreliable tfl make everything worse 😔 i forgot to mention, im also probably going to apply to twyford since its very close to me and ive heard its a pretty good school. im also quite worried about the whole environment of the school, since ive heard alot of complaints from people who attend those schools. also fitting in? moving to a mixed school is so scary since all of my secondary school life was spent in an all girls... anyway i was interested in if you're doing anything extra like extra/supercurriculars? i dont know if they pay attention to that, but i feel like it'd be a good addition to your applications possibly?
