Have you FAILED an AS MOCK?

Okay I've sat my mock exams for my AS modules in Janaury...

And some of them weren't very good!

Anybody here gone form like an E,D,C to maybe a B/A over the holidays after a mock? I just got 50% in my chemistry mock.. and i'm pretty gutted. i revised loads too! Looking for some support really... there has to be SOME people who did as badly as me and still got a good result... hasn't there?!

please reply, cheers. :smile::smile:

ALSO ANY GOOD CHEMISTRY(OCR B) REVISION ADVICE/ GUIDES/ WEBSITES WOULD BE REALLY USEFUL... THANK YOU EVERYONE :smile:

Who cares what other people got? :p: If you put in enough work over the holidays and revise the bits you're not up to scratch on, you'll bump your grade right up with no problem at all.
I always get C/D in maths mocks, and last year got high As in all the modules...I never revise for mocks, so that could explain it

I can't see the point revising this early to be honest, I'll never remember it in a months' time!

I'm just looking for someone who did as badly as me in january... and got a good result in the end... my teacher basically said to me i almost certainly won't get an A, regardless of how much work i put it....

not me personally, but loads of people are getting D's in physics and maths at the moment, and we have exams in January. I'm sure so long as you, and they, work hard over the holiday there's no reason why jumping a few grades up should be too difficult.

:yep: I went from 54% in my Chemistry module 3 mock to 93%. Although I didn't revise at all for the mock.

Snap.
i got an E in my psych unit one mock. got a B on that module but and A overall
Although my gap was quite a bit bigger, i went from getting an E in a mock chem mod 5 exam two-ish months before getting an A in June for the real thing.

What chem course are you doing? This helped me a lot http://lanther.co.uk/index.php?page=2.2

I think they changed the syllabus recently, didnt they?

Well that's a perfect excuse to prove your teacher wrong... they don't know Jack Schmidt about how you're gonna do; even teachers can't predict the future!

hey they just changed it. we're on a brand new one. I'm doing OCR B. apparently it's the easiest course according to my college lol.

oh yeh and cheers for the link. it looks really good. altho its a new syllabus, i think the atoms bonding stuff will proove useful. if you have any other chem tips i'll be very appreciative! thanks again.

well if it makes you feel anybetter it is possible to up your grades if you revise hardcore over the christmas exams. lat yr when i did my mocks in dec, i got
E-Bio
U-Chem
A-Psychology
C-Economics

and i ended up with 4 A's in my january exams, but then, i dont revise 4 mocks...i just did about 8 hrs hardcore revision during the christmas hols, everyday ecept christmas day and new yr

make a revision timetable, it might help you prioritise your time and focuz on sections of the syllabus which you feel youre not too confident with.
good luck

Of course. An A grade isn't that hard to achieve really -- it just takes work, mainly in terms of memorisation it has to be said.

I hope not; I've got one tomorrow. Haven't failed any Chemistry mocks thus far. have, biology, though. :shifty:
