Degree to foundation year

I took the difficult decision to transfer from a degree course to foundation year, I had the experience but felt I struggled academically with the younger members of the cohort. Is there anyone else who has of considering this as a student or mature student? Feel unsure whether I am wasting a year of tuition fees? I hopefully won’t be, however wondered if any students took similar path and were successful to completion of there degree.

I began university at 21 on the Foundation route. If you feel like you are struggling, perhaps it is the workload i.e. you are unfamiliar with the way things are done at the university, meaning if you take on a "easier" workload i.e. Foundation year to get your bearings with the university systems, it may be easier.

If you feel this would make it easier, go for it. It isn't a waste if you just need a bit of extra time to get used to the systems and if anything, makes you more likely to pass the actual degree course itself (years 1-3), if anything, I'd call it an investment as I was far more prepared than others going onto Year 1 than Year 0.

Good luck!
