GCSE Resit Advice

I just wanted to ask for some advice on what to do because I’m quite stuck right now .
I moved from a different country to the UK like a year before I took the GCSE exam . Unfortunately I wasn’t able to cover the content I missed on time before the exam. I got mostly 5s and 6s . Right now I’m doing Alevel Maths Chemistry and Biology which I find quite difficult but I’m going to find a way through. I am looking to resit my Maths and English GCSE as I got 5s in these and I want to apply for Medicine at Uni . But when do y’all think would be the best time in November or Next yr July for it to be considered for a medicine course . I also feel like I’m not ready yet to do it in November .Also someone in the Medical field advice me not to take a resit as this would decrease my chances of getting considered for the course at most Unis . Is this true ?
I apologize for the long paragraphs and thank you in advance for the answers xx .

resit is good in the beginning of year 12(nov) or end year 12 (summer). But check as some univs are happy with 5 but it is better to resit so to open up most of univs.

It is a good idea to resit the exams in July as most medical schools ask for a 6 in english and for maths it does vary but it's also usually 6/7. There are some unis that don't accept gcse resits like Birmingham,Imperial,Glasgow,Oxbridge. But there are a lot which do accept gcse resits like Aston, Keele, Cardiff, Bristol. Do ur research on what the gcse requirements are for medical schools u would like to go and which factors they weigh on mostly for shortlisting - UCAT/ A levels/GCSEs

i’m not sure if this is true or not (so take it with a heavy pinch of salt) but because only resit students are doing the november gcse exams, apparently the grade boundaries can be lower. It may also be ideal to get the GCSEs out of the way quickly to focus on your A-Levels

However, if you’re really not ready then there’s no point in doing the november exams. Are you aiming for a 6 or a 7-9 in your resits? because if you’re aiming for a high grade then it’s deffo best to wait till you’re ready

There's only 10 days left till maths paper 1 and english paper 1 is day after. Basically the whole of gcse maths and english resits is done in one week. This is nowhere near enough time for OP to revise and achieve a higher grade that she wanted. So although it might be unideal or extra work to do the resits in summer when there's also AS exams, it is better for OP as they need time to be able to revise properly and get a higher grade.

Apologies, didn’t realise it was so soon
Yes OP should probs wait till the next resit then
