Thinking about the possibility of uni

In school I really messed up my gcses and didn’t end up taking a levels or any higher education courses. For the last 2 or so years i’ve been working full time and I recently decided I want to study at university but want to know if it’s at all possible for me to do this. I had a look at access courses which seems like one of my only options but to be honest I don’t really fancy the idea of going to college being 19-20 around 16 year olds so i wanted to ask if anyone knows if it’s possible to study this course or any similar ones at a university instead of a college? Thanks in advance for any help

There are Uni based courses for older students without conventional qualifications - examples :
Foundation Years | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol
Degrees with a foundation year | Education | The University of Sheffield

If you do an Access course you won't be around 16 year olds. Access courses are only open to those age 19 and above. It is more likely that you will be studying alongside mature students who are older than you.

I think what they meant was that there would be mostly 16 year olds at the college, not specifically on the course.

Lots of Uni's offer foundation year's in many subject areas. These are designed for students who do not quite meet the entry requirements of the degree and have been out of education for a while, once you have completed the year you can progress on to year 1 of the degree. - JD
