UWE Bristol

what is UWE Bristol like ?? i’m looking for some insurance choices for law and as the entry requirements are around a BBC was considering as an option
Do you mean the university itself or the course?

I went to UWE but I didn't do law (I did Biomedical Science for both my bachelors and masters). So I am limited to talking only about the university personally. Personally I really liked it, the student support was amazing, campus, about half of it is dated, then again, it is 32 years old now but around half the buildings I would say have been built in the last 4-5 years, so fairly modern (this is Frenchay campus I am talking about).

Transport, the buses go into town every 15 minutes direct (so you'll find yourself in town from campus in about 10-15 minutes as it's a direct on the motorway bus). Shops are within a 15 minute walk of it (albeit at the bottom of the hill, so getting to them is easy but literally up hill with shopping isn't fun), unless you to go Lidl or The Range where is basically across the road (again, Frenchay campus).

Bar on campus in the Student Union, most books are digital and free from the library so that's useful too. Plus unlimited free (black and white) printing credit, albeit all submission are digital, so you'll very rarely, if ever need to print anything. =)
On campus gym too which is fairly affordable price wise and offers student, alumni and staff discount.

A few shops on campus (albeit pricey compared to what's around campus) but the university does offer cost of living meals which are around £2.50 each and free meals in the SU twice per week on Frenchay and once per week on Glenside. So overall, I was happy with it.

The business and law building was being built when I left my bachelors 5 years ago (I went back to do my masters after getting some experience in clinical labs this year) and can say it's got about 7 floors and is a very modern building.

Hi @graciewebster_

Thank you for considering us at UWE Bristol 🙂

We do have an open day coming up on the 16th November which would be a great way to see the campus and take a look around Bristol! As you are looking to study law you would be based in our Business School which has many great facilities such as mock court rooms and study spaces /cafes.

Frenchay campus is full of life with numerous restaurants, cafes, student spaces, shops, the library and a gym. This page is really useful for an insight into student life Life | UWE Bristol. As another user has mentioned, it's also only 10/15 minutes away from Bristol City Centre which has lots to offer for students!

If you have any other questions or things you'd like to know I'd be happy to help!

Thanks,

Courtney
