Should I even bother apply to UCL chemistry

Hello everyone. I'm a home student and I'm applying for medicine. I want to have chemistry as my 5th choice. I'm doing the IB and my grades are the folowing.

HL subjects: Chem, Bio, Psych (6,7,7 respecitevely)

SL subjects: Math AA, German B, English Lang. Lit. (7,7,6 respecitevely)

Chemistry Extended Essay : A

TOK : B

So 43 in total bc I get the 3 core points

I meet all the requirements in their website (It says 38 I have 43 IB points, 18 in HL subjects I have 20) but I'm afraid my 6 in chemistry is going to drag me down. To be honest , I had 6+ in year grade of IB1 but my teacher, who is really stirct, did not raise my grade. Nevertheless, I have medicine peronal statement but I do talk about my chemistry and math IA courseworks, volutneering, clubs etc. Do you think it is a waste of an application ?

Yes! I was at their open day and I’ve asked the admission team whatever I can apply biochemistry as my fifth option, they kind of laughed at me!
Chemistry is not a mega-competitive subject at any Uni - you should be okay.
And, honestly, there will be plenty of places, including at very good Unis, in Clearing.

Probably that they get countless 5th choice med applications and it's an everyday occurance for them.

Going back to the original question, you are miles above the standard Chem offer and meet the HL Chem requirement so I don't see why not.

I;m kind of worried for my 6 in chemistry. I hope my Extended essay can make up for it, considering I did all alone (not single teacher to help me write at least)

I mean if they wanted a 7 they would just ask for it. Not much point in them encouraging a raft of unsuitable candidates.

On their website it says Maths, Bio and Physics preferred as third subject so it might be a bit risky.

“A total of 18 points in three higher level subjects including 6 in Chemistry and 6 in one of Biology, Physics or Mathematics, with no higher level score below 5. For Mathematics, the programme will accept either 'Analysis and Approaches' or 'Applications and Interpretation' at higher level. Biology, Physics and Mathematics preferred as third subject.”
