Hi,

Im not an optometry student yet but wanted to ask what the application was like

Im currently doing my advanced highers (maths, chem, bio) and got AABBC in higher

Was there a interview process?
Is the course hard?
Would i struggle if i have not done physics
Would I receive a conditional or unconditional ( im apart of widening access)

Thanks for your help and i hope someone gives you the response you hoped for!

I’ve just started my course, so I can only give you a small insight .

there was an interview where I had to explain why I chose optometry and why I applied to the university. The course can be challenging, especially in the physics modules, but it's doable if you're willing to put in the effort your advanced higher in maths will give you such an advantage as it’s quite maths based. Since you haven’t done physics, you might find that part a bit tougher, but with some extra work, you should be able to manage.
Regarding offers, I don’t think you’ll receive an unconditional offer, but since you're part of widening access, your entry requirements may be reduced. I’d recommend contacting admissions directly, providing your grades, and asking if you’re eligible for widening access to see how that might affect your offer.
